Tidbits of Information

Scoutbook is slowly migrating to Scoutbook Plus. You can keep up with the changes here: Latest Scoutbook/Scoutbook-Scoutbook Plus Change Log topics-Scouting Forums.
According to the Guide to Advancement Eagle letters of reference should be confidential between the writer and the Board of Review members. Letters should arrive to the council office in a sealed envelope. You may send them with the Scout when they bring their project workbook and application to the office. The Guide to Advancement discourages emailed letters, but if you need to have your letters emailed you can send them to the council's email: MCC.Eagle@scouting.org and we will add them to the Eagle packet when it arrives at our office. There should not be anyone else copied on the email.
It is important to check and update your contact information through the My.Scouting website so you won't miss any notifications about registration renewals or YPT expiration. You will find this under the 'My Profile' section. You can also update your name and check your registered positions there. This can also be done through ScoutBook Plus and you can correct your child's information there too.
If you are a leader and trying to verify that a Scout or Scouter are registered in your unit, you should look at the roster in My.Scouting. Scoutbook and Scoutbook+ are not always synced properly and may show inaccurate information.
If you are a registered adult and want to check your registered positions, you can log into My.Scouting and select 'My Profile.' Just under the personal information section is your registrations. If you should be registered in a unit or as a merit badge counselor and it is not listed here email Laura.
For merit badge counselors you can check your list of approved merit badges just below the registrations section.
As of April 1, 2024, any adult must clear the background check before participating in Scouting activities. Whether an adult applied online or with a paper application, they will receive an email after the application is submitted. This email will let them know they have been submitted for a background check and that they should not start participating as a leader until the background check is complete. Once the background check is complete and the applicant is cleared, they will receive another email stating they have been cleared and are able to start participating in Scouting activities.
