2026 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

NYLT is a national leadership training course for youth in all BSA programs conducted as a backpacking experience at Camp Belk. Youth must be at least 14 years of age before the start of course, have completed ILST (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops), ILSC (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews) or ILSS (introduction to Leadership Skills for Ships). and at least 1st class if part of Scouts BSA.

****Please note national DOES NOT allow us to substitute S.E.A.L.S. for ILST******

It is our expectation that your participant candidates meet and exceed the basics of the Scout Oath and Scout Law without the direct supervision of adults from their home unit. They are expected to be self-motivated to excel when not with the direct supervision of their unit leaders.

This course will begin on July 26, 2026 at noon and conclude July 31, 2026 with graduation at 6:30pm.

Each unit can register 4 primary scouts and 1 alternate on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Out of council units can register 2 primary scouts and 1 alternate. 

If the course is not full when open registration closes, alternates will be invited to complete the registration process, which includes submitting all required paperwork and payment to attend course.

Cost is $350 per scout.

Course registration should be using your unit login and completed by unit leader (Scoutmaster, Advisor, or Skipper).
