Yes! Please contact the NYLT Course Advisors at MCCNYLTadviser@gmail.com to get more information. Applications are to be filled out by the unit leader (Scoutmaster/Venturing Advisor/Skipper) only.
Scouts should arrive at Belk Scout Camp by 12:00pm on the course start date for check-in (Do Not Arrive before 11:30am). Scouts should arrive wearing their sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes and Field (class A) Uniform. They must have any remaining paperwork ready for the Registrar, have all medications in original containers ready for review by the Medical staff, and have rain gear ready to protect themselves and their gear. They will need to bring their gear packed in a backpack for the hike to camp (do NOT bring a foot locker or trunk). Late scouts will not be able to join if the program has already started.
The staff will try to make accommodations for scouts arriving late; however, we cannot allow Scouts to arrive on course any later than 1:00 pm for their specific course. Scouts that come late will miss very important classes and team building exercises. If you need to schedule a late arrival, you MUST contact the course director. mccnyltadviser@gmail.com
NYLT ends on Friday afternoon with a closing ceremony at 6:30pm. Family, friends, and unit leaders are invited to join us for the course closing ceremony. Scouts are dismissed from course after the closing ceremony.
Every participant must turn in a BSA medical form A, B1, B2, C and copy of insurance card by May 13 to the Mecklenburg County Council scout office. A copy of the 2019 BSA medical form may be downloaded from the documents section. In adherence to federal laws and the BSA, these forms may NOT be transmitted electronically. They may be mailed to the scout office but please allow for ample time for the mail. NYLT is not responsible for late, lost, or misdirected mail. MCC Scout Office NYLT 1410 E. 7th Street Charlotte, North Carolina 28204
All the meals are provided for Scouts. The Menu can be found in the documents section. If Scouts are hungry in between meals, the staff will have snacks (fruit, crackers, other healthy snack items). Please note, if the Scout has any food allergies it is vital the Scout and the parents inform the NYLT staff before the course starts!
Yes. Every Scout needs to bring a tent that they know how to erect and tear down as they will be doing that on a daily basis. NO HAMMOCKS. If the scout does not have a tent they should borrow one from their unit or purchase one. This is a backpacking experience, it is highly recommended not to bring any tents larger than a 2 man tent since they will be carried on a daily basis.
At check in, all medications are reviewed by the medic. Medications must arrive in their original containers with clear instructions on dosage. All medications will be held by the scout during course unless special storage is required. It will be the scout's responsibility to take their medications when and how needed.
