The Etowah District is in need of Eagle Board of Reviewers and Eagle Project Reviewers.

The Eagle Board of Reviewers are the Council representative that sit with your committee on your Eagle Board of Reviews.  There is a lot of flexibility with this position as it is determined by the number of Eagle candidates and your schedule.

The Eagle Project Reviewers meet on the second Thursday of the month (Roundtable Night) at 5 pm to approved Eagle Projects.   Again there is some flexibility as it varies how many Eagle Projects need to be reviewed, but it meets year round on the second Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm.

There will be training for both at Scouter Success in September under the heading Mechanics of Advancement.

Thank you for your cooperation and if you have any questions please contact Carole Stojetz, Etowah Advancement Chair at cestojetz@carolina.rr.com.

Nova & Supernova STEM Awards

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are the hot subjects with today’s youth. The Boy Scouts have them covered with the Nova and Supernova Awards and the Mecklenburg County Council has you covered as well!

Scouters from Mecklenburg County Council, Boy Scouts of America and Palmetto Council, BSA have teamed up to offer the Nova Awards for Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts.

For more info: http://www.mccscouting.org/advancement

Go to the bottom of the page under Nova/ Supernova Awards.

All Scoutbook units must be active on the Sync by January 31, 2018.

Starting February 1, 2018, units with active Scoutbook subscriptions will only be able to approve advancements for Scouts who are in the Advancement Sync. If you have not activated your unit and Scout within the unit, you will not be able to approve advancements for that Scout.

The user guide on activating the Sync is here: http://bit.ly/syncadv.  If you have any questions about the Sync please send an email to: Scoutbooksync@gmail.com.

REMINDER: As you activate the Sync, if there are Scouts that have not yet been registered (entered into ScoutNet or My.Scouting) you can un-approve those Scouts in Scoutbook and continue setting up the Sync for the rest of your unit. Once registration is complete for the outstanding Scouts you can then approve them, activate them for the Sync from the Scout account page, and they will then be included.
