Are you a high school student interested in a career in law, criminal justice, or public service? Join us for an inside look at the legal system through a hands-on program with the Public Defender’s Office. This experience is designed for students who want to better understand courtroom advocacy, constitutional rights, and the real-world impact of the justice system.

Our Open House will be held on March 4th at 6:00 PM at the Public Defender’s Office, where you’ll meet legal professionals, learn about the program, and explore opportunities in criminal defense.

PARKING!!! 

Parking has been arranged with the Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlotte Uptown, located at 201 South McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.

Guests should pull a ticket when entering the parking deck. When exiting, they will need to press the intercom button and let the attendant know they were attending the open house. The hotel will then open the gate for them.

  • April 1 – Political Literacy

  • April 15 – Jail Tour

  • April 22 – The 4th, 5th & 6th Amendments

  • May 13 – Crime and Punishment

  • May 20 – Final Session & Bond Hearings

Throughout the program, students will engage in meaningful discussions, hear directly from impacted individuals, explore constitutional law, and observe how public defenders advocate for their clients. If you are curious about defending rights, standing up for justice, and making a difference in your community, this program is for you.
