Volunteers Make Day Camp Happen

Want a fun, adventurous camp experience while still enjoying the comfort of your own bed each evening?  If so, then Apache Day Camp is the place for you!  Our Apache Day Camp offers registered Scouts (boys and girls) from rising Tigers through rising Arrow-of-Light the opportunity to experience the endless possibilities of Belk Scout Camp without spending the night.  Day campers will spend their days doing all sorts of exciting camp activities including swimming, boating, crafts, hiking, fishing, archery and so much more including new activities designed exclusively for summer camp fun and advancement!

Our Mission and Values

  • The mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

  • A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. He/she does their best to live up to the Law every day.

Day Camp Info and Forms

Dates/Times: June 22 - 26, 2020, Drop-off:  8:00 AM to 8:30 AM, Pick-up:  4:30 PM to 5:00 PM

 

Fees: $150 per scout for the week if registered and paid by April 8.

          $175 per scout after April 8 until the registration cut-off date of May 28.

 

Registration: Registration is COMING SOON.

 

Each Pack is required to provide one adult volunteer for every four Scouts registered for the week.

Ideally, we would like volunteers to participate for the full five days.  Tiger parents must be on site everyday.

 

 

Me-Too and Adventure Patrol Program

 

Having a difficult time volunteering because your scout has siblings at home?  Here are some options which are available to parents while they are on site volunteering:

     > Me-Toos: Children ages 2 (potty trained) to 5: 1st Me-Too is free, 2nd Me-Too and thereafter is $20.

     > Adventure Patrol: For brothers or sisters that are not registered scouts and are rising first graders

      through 5th grade who want to do everything the Cub Scouts are doing.  Cost is the same as it is for

      Cub Scouts, $150 until April 12 or $175 after April 8 until the registration cut-off date of May 28th. 

     > Siblings 11 and older may help their parent volunteer.

  • Step One:  Register and pay – See your Committee Chair, Cubmaster, or Day Camp Coordinator for details.  If you have any challenges with this process, please Email Apache District Executive Trey Eskridge at trey.eskridge@scouting.org.  You pay your Pack $150 then, your Pack pays for all registered Scouts through our on-line registration system.

  • Step Two:  Forms to help you prepare

 

Required Forms:

  • AB Health Form (no Physician signature required) for all youth and adult participants

  • Copy of, insurance card front and back

  • All participants 18-years old and older must have a current BSA Youth Protection Certificate which can be renewed at my.scouting.org

 

Optional but, encouraged forms for anyone 14-years or older:

  • Copy of current CPR certificate

  • Suggested Online Training for all volunteers at my.scouting.org: Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Weather Hazards, Climb On Safely, and Trek Safely

 

Day Camp Suggested Packing List

Lunch (refrigerator is available) – packed in a 1-gallon Zip-Loc bag with name and assigned camp den.  Water and bug-juice will be available however, some Scouts prefer packing a beverage

Close-toed Tennis shoes (Scouts and Adults)

Swimming suit and towel – packed in a 2-gallon Zip-Loc bag with name and assigned camp den.  Scouts must have a change of clothes when outside of the swimming area

• Any prescription medications you need while you’re here (must be in original prescription bottle; will be checked in with the camp nurse)

Sunscreen – according to youth protection rules, adults may not put lotion on other scouts.  Scouts may either use the spray or put their own lotion on or have another Scout assist them

OPTIONAL:

Water bottle – cups are provided for each camper and water is available at each station so this item is not encouraged however, if the scout is willing and able to be responsible for their own water bottle, they may bring one

   Water shoes (like crocs or keens; no flip-flops) for boating. You need something that will hold your heel)

Hat, cap, or bandana

Rain Coat or Poncho

bug spray

 

Camper Rules

Follow the Scout Law

  • If a Scout or participant does not follow the Scout Law they will first be given a verbal warning.

  • Continued un-Scout-like behavior may result in a Time-out and a meeting with the Camp Director or Program Director.

  • Should un-Scout-like behavior continue further, a parent may be called and asked to pick-up their Scout from camp.Refunds will not be given.

 

Day Camp Times

Drop-off and pick-up works very similar to the way it does for the local public schools.  The day begins and ends at the Dining Hall.

  • Drop-off: Please drop your Scouts off between 8:00 to 8:30 am.  Dropping them off sooner may result in under supervised situations.  Dropping them off later may result in delayed activity time.

  • Please pick-up your Scouts between 4:30 to 5:00 pm.  Coming too soon may result in vehicles moving around camp when Scouts are returning to the Dining Hall.  Coming too late is disrespectful to the volunteers who just worked hard all day for your Scouts

 

Trading Post

Everyday, Day Campers will have an opportunity to visit the Camp Trading Post.  Parents may make purchases at the end of each day.  Debit/credit payments accepted for sales over $10.  Exact inventory may vary however, in the past we have included: 

  • Snacks:  lollipops, chocolate bars, popsicles,  ice cream treats, electrolyte beverages, and chips ($0.25 to $2.00 each)

  • Scout Shop Items: Frisbees, water bottles, camping sports, headlamps, flashlights, wood craft kits, key rings, knife sharpeners, Scout Books, baseball caps, and draw-string bags ($3 to $18 each)
