The Police Explorer program is designed for young men and women in high school and interested in law enforcement training, community service, and recreational programs.  The Explorers receive training on a regular basis to familiarize themselves with the law enforcement career and to prepare for Explorer competitions against other law enforcement Explorer posts from around the state.

Minimum requirements to become a Matthews Police Department Explorer

  1. Must have completed the 8th grade.

  2. Must be between the ages of 14-20.

  3. Must complete a Boys Scouts of America Explorer application.

Attendance Requirements

  1. There are eighteen (18) annual meetings that each member must attend a minimum 75% of.

  2. There are also occasionally Special Event meetings that each member must attend a minimum 25% of.
