COPE & Climbing - Reservations

Unit Leaders

So, you want to take your unit climbing? Please review the material in this section. There are important tasks that you must complete to prepare for a climbing adventure.

Several actions must be completed before you organize a climbing/rappelling activity:

  • Check the age appropriate guidelines from the Guide to Safe Scouting.

  • Complete the BSA's Climb on Safely training. You can review the 8 points of Climb on Safely but you should also complete the training in person or the online training course offered through My.Scouting.org.

  • When you reserve a facility at one of our two camps an email will be generated to both the camp ranger and the COPE & Climbing committee. A committee member will reach out to you to learn more about your event. We typically need to know the number of participants, age/rank of the participants, hours you will be at the facility and what you are hoping to get out of the experience.

Look for the Weekend Reservations menu.

If you have any questions about the reservation process please send a detailed email to our Reservation Coordinator at mcc.copeclimbing.reservation@gmail.com.

Council and District Camp/Program Directors

We receive a lot of questions about what it takes to staff the tower or COPE course for a district or council event. These events typically involve many more participants than a unit event. They also fall under the BSA's NCAP standards instead of Climb On Safely as mentioned above.

Please refer to the Tower Staffing Requirements. Similar to the reservation process above, when you make the reservation for a COPE or climbing facility at one of our camps an email will be generated to the COPE & Climbing committee and a dialog will be started to determine the needs for your event.
